Actually I've known several independent foreclosure assistants and investors who do exactly what they agree to and save people's credit and finances. The reality is that foreclosure can stopped because the processes most commonly used by bank trustees exploit loopholes in the laws rather than being fully legitimate. They use these loopholes because otherwise foreclosure would take them years sometimes and that wouldn't be good for profit. When someone actively stonewalls those loopholes most banks don't even know how to follow the lawful process anymore and because of their lack of understand often they don't even retain possession of the original promissory note, without which their mortgage is meaningless.

There are a lot of scammers in every field - lending and banking not least of all - but not everything is a scam.
